Update of Personal Particulars

Any changes in official name, citizenship and identity card/passport must be accompanied by documentary proof.

We will not be able to update any changes without authentication. You can verify your Official Name in EduRec. Please refer to the user guide on “View/Update Personal Information” in EduRec webpage for the steps.
*Your name captured in the University’s record as your Official Name will be printed on the various official documents issued by the University, in particular your degree scroll and academic transcript. If you have changed your name during your course of study but failed to inform the University in a timely manner and you have already been conferred your degree, then your name as presently reflected in our official records, will be inscribed on your degree scroll. No further requests for name changes will be entertained.

Official Change of Name

If you have officially/legally changed your name during your course of study, you should inform us of the change at your first opportunity.

Please bring the original documentary evidence for verification by staff at the Yale-NUS Registry during office hours for the necessary updates to your official records. Once your new NUS Student ID & Yale-NUS Access Card are printed, Registry will send you an email notification to collect the cards.

Relevant supporting documents are:

  • Your NUS Student ID
  • Your Pink/Blue Singapore NRIC; or
  • Your Passport

Students with long names:
Please note that names that exceed more than 70 characters (including spaces) will be abbreviated.

Change in Citizenship

Please bring the original supporting documents and NUS Student ID for verification by staff at the Yale-NUS Registry’s Office during office hours for the necessary updates to your official records.

Relevant supporting documents for:

Change in Citizenship

  • Certificate of Citizenship; or
  • Pink Singapore NRIC; or
  • Pink Singapore NRIC Collection Slip

Obtaining Singapore Permanent Residence

  • Blue Singapore NRIC; or
  • Blue Singapore NRIC Collection Slip

Upon the completion of this verification and update, the Office of Financial Services will be notified accordingly so that the necessary actions with financial effect(s) may be taken. Citizenship changes which result in tuition fee rate changes will be effected in the semester only if notification is received no later than the end of the third instructional week. Notification received beyond that will have the revised tuition fee effected only in the following semester.

In the event that you are unable to produce your Singapore NRIC or collection slip before the end of the third instructional week, the citizenship change in the current semester will only be effected if you submit the following documents before the end of the semester concerned (i.e. by end of reading week):
(i) an In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter from ICA (for citizenship change to Singapore Citizen/Singapore Permanent Resident) which is dated no later than the end of the second instructional week; and
(ii) original Singapore NRIC or collection slips which is dated before the end of the semester concerned (i.e. by end of reading week).

Do note that prior to your citizenship change, you are liable for fees before adjustment. Following your citizenship change, the Office of Financial Services will re-calculate the affected semester’s fees and excess tuition fees (if any) will be credited into your account.
